A restaurant co-ownership of Premier League legend Ryan Giggs that is suddenly closed has given an update.
The staff of George's dining room and bar in Worsley, Manchester, were reportedly told by SMS that they were fired last Friday.
In the following days, customers submitted a series of complaints in online responses asking what will happen with their purchased gift vouchers.
A restaurant spokesperson told The Manchester Evening News: “We are currently paying back to repaying all purchased vouchers who have not been exchanged.
“The majority of this has been reimbursed and we will contact that excellent in the coming days.
“If you don't hear from us, contact the restaurant directly.” The contact for the restaurant is given as an -mail address [email protected]. “
However, there has been no further information from the restaurant about the closure – with local rumors that claim that the site has already been taken over.
Sudden closure
Ex-Reds midfielder Giggs, 51, opened the location on Barton Road in 2014 with two old school friends.
Drawing on the door on January 31 said it was closed for the weekend “due to unforeseen circumstances”.
However, texts sent by bosses to the staff said that the restaurant was closed forever, the men reported.
The messages stated that they “regret that we have no alternative with a heavy heart, but to close George's effectively immediately”.
They added: “This is due to the clear reduction in trade and the business community against the enormous increases in the costs of operating the company and the continuous costs of a living crisis.”
Employees would also be told that they will get an outstanding wages in “expired course”, as well as notification payment, as well as severance pay for “those who apply to it”.
An employee told the news output: “It came out of nowhere, we would all have to work today and then we have passed the SMS messages, we are all stunned.”
When George was opened more than ten years ago, Giggs said that it had been a lifelong dream to have a restaurant alongside childhood friends Kelvin Gregory and Bernie Taylor.
He had described it as a “really different offer for the area”, with a launch event attended by former Manchester United Teammates Bryan Robson, Nicky Butt and Gary Neville.
A new terrace was added to the restaurant in 2015.
Giggs has since also worked with Sky Sports Pundit Neville on the GG Hospitality Group, which launched hotel football in Old Trafford and the Stock Exchange Hotel in the city center.
The sun has approached the representatives of George and Giggs for comment.
Return to Dugout
Elsewhere, Giggs helped to transform Salford City FC after his return to the Dugout for the League Two -outfit almost three years after he crashed as head coach of Wales.
In recent months he has played a more hands-on role with the first team and was seen during the games in the Dugout alongside manager Karl Robinson.
The legend of Wales and Manchester United is co-owner of the Ammies next to his former Red Devil Steammates Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and investor David Beckham.
Giggs also started working as the director of the club last year.
However, the former Welsh National Team Manager now seems to borrow his experience with coaching to Moor Lane's staff, while taking on a competition day role on the touchline.
De Ster became manager of his country in 2018, before he was arrested two years later on attack costs.
Giggs, who has always denied misconduct, resigned from the role in June 2022 prior to his trial, where a jury could not reach a judgment.
