Retired UFC star with nine fights re-enters testing pool as comeback beckons

Like most athletes, MMA hunters only have a small window in their lives to try to take advantage of the profession they have devoted themselves to.

Achieving the octagon is a dream for many rising prospects, but there is another task completely and because the recent business with Warley Alves who leaves the UFC proves, the lifespan does not deserve a permanent place on the Roster.

Even an elite competitor and former world champion such as Israel Adesanya received pension calls after his knockout loss against Nassourdine Imavov.

The point is that very few hunters can leave the UFC on their own conditions, as was the case for Joe Solecki who announced his retirement at just 31 years old.

One hunter who also decided to retire and yet to be an active UFC hunter has now apparently decided to return their decision three years later.

Nina Nunes comes again in the UFC test pool after his retirement in 2022

The tracker of the UFC for how many tests each hunter did on the schedule in 2025 recently added a new name to the extensive list.

Nina Nunes has reintroduced the test pool after announcing her retirement of MMA in August 2022 after her last fight in the UFC.

Nunes had fought nine times in the promotion and once drove a win with four fights that derailed by Tatiana Suarez.

After a second consecutive loss for Mackenzie Dern later in the line, she bounced back with a split decision victory over Cynthia Calvillo before she left her gloves in the cage.

“As a hunter I think I did what I wanted,” Nunes told Daniel Cormier in her interview after the fight. “It started as a hobby, I came here completely, I'm going to concentrate on coaching and the application of those girls who are struggling now.”

However, Nunes stated in her interview that her decision was motivated by family, which means that she does not necessarily exclude a return.

In September 2021, the inhabitant of Florida welcomed her first child with her wife, the former UFC Bantamweight and Champion Featherweight, Amanda Nunes.

“I mean, I feel great at 125, it is where I should always have been, but I want more babies, so I step away to have another child.”

What does this mean for Amanda Nunes?

Although the conversation has been quiet for a while, there were a few teasing last year that Amanda Nunes could return.

'The Lioness' went on her own conditions at UFC 289 in June 2023, where she announced her retirement after the Bantamweight title against Irene Aldana.

However, talk started to change as soon as former PFL -Superster Kayla Harrison was signed with the UFC with many who believe that if she can become champion, the nunes could seduce to take on a new challenge.

We currently do not know what the next is for the Bantamweight Division for Women, but the fact that Nina is back in the test pool would suggest that the Nunes household is back in a form of regular training.
