Revealed: Arsenal’s final fee for Zubimendi as deal set for announcement

Martin Zubimendi lives his last days like a real Sociedad player, with the midfielder for a move to Arsenal. A deal has already been agreed between all parties, and it has been the case for several weeks.

Zubimendi rejected Liverpool last summer, but he is now ready to continue his career in the Premier League at the North London Club. Arsenal -fans have continued to wait for an official announcement, but there has been no reason to worry despite the reported interest of Real Madrid. The reason is simple: La Real wanted to sell in their books for the 2025-26 financial year.

Zubimendi flew to London earlier this month to complete things, and according to Marca, a deal will be officially closed by all parties later this week as soon as the summer transfer window is reopened in Spain, which indicates the start of a new financial year for La Real.

The report also confirmed the final reimbursement that Arsenal will pay to La Real for Zubimendi. The 26-year-old has a release clause of € 60 million, but the Premier League side will pay 10% more to obtain a more favorable payment plan. They would have liked to pay the sum in one go, and it seems that this has been achieved.

It is a blow to Zubimendi to leave La Liga, where he was one of the striking defensive midfielders, but it was probably the right time for him to leave Donostia-San Sebastian to continue his career. La Real will have money to spend on this replacement, and also improving other parts of their team-which is absolutely essential in view of their poor performance in La Liga during the 2024-25 season.
