Revealed: Why Arsenal really ‘chose Victor Gyokeres over Benjamin Sesko

Arsenal seemed to make a breakthrough on Sunday in their pursuit of a striker when it was reported that they had advanced conversations with Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres.

The Gunners would like to strengthen in the last third part after the past season without silverware and identified Gyokeres, 27, and RB Leipzig -striker Benjamin Sesko as two of their top goals.

A potential deal for gyokeres – which would exchange Lisbon for London – can be worth up to £ 70 million.

Discussions have taken place about the structure of feasible bonus payments on the reimbursement in which Gyokeres has already agreed personal conditions on a five -year contract.

After interest in Sesko, they came from Mikel Arteta – which seemed to be a stumbling block.

Now it can be revealed why Arsenal chose Gyokees instead of Sesko while haunting a first Premier League title in more than 20 years.

According to the Portuguese Outlet Record, Arteta and sports director Andrea Berta have a deal for the last 'definitively abandoned'.

The publication claims that Leipzig demanded a reimbursement of € 80 million for the player, while Arsenal only offered € 70 million.

The report also says that the Bundesliga side wanted € 40 million of that compensation at the forefront, a figure that was too heavy for the preference of North Londonen.

Arsenal then turned to Gyokeres after personal conditions with Sesko reportedly reached an 'impasse', with Arteta seemingly impatient for a striker to arrive before the friendly matches of his team start.

But the aim of the Gunners of Gyokeres has not yet been completed, because it is still said that they are differences in how the transfer is paid.

Arsenal reportedly wants to offer a reimbursement of € 65 million plus another € 15 million in add-ons, while Sports Club President Frederico Varandas Frederico Varandas wants € 70 million before add-on is taken into account.

The news from the potential relocation from Gyokeres to Noord -Londen comes after Arsenal confirmed their first major signing of the summer in Martin Zubimendi.

Zubimendi, 26, has signed a five-year-old deal with the Gunners, who could beat the Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester City to his signature.

The Spanish international has long been courted by the side of Mikel Arteta, which have now finally reached one of their most important goals.

Arsenal confirmed the signing of Zubimendi in a video that was previously placed Twitter, on Sunday afternoon, and added that he will wear the number 36 shirt.

The Spaniard appeared 180 performances in Laliga for Real Sociedad after they had passed through their academy arrangement and has 18 caps for the Spanish national team.

Although Mailsport exclusively revealed in January that Arsenal had landed Zubimendi, the Liga side did not want to lose such an important player in the middle of the season.
