Revealed: Why Atletico Madrid could beat Man United and Arsenal in the race to sign Viktor Gyokeres

Atletico Madrid has a considerable advantage over Man United and Arsenal in the race to sign Viktor Gyokeres, according to reports from Spain.

The Swede is one of the most popular qualities in world football and leads the European goals with a stunning 52 goals in 48 games, including seven hat tricks.

He is reserved with a move from Sporting Lisbon this summer with Man United and Arsenal tipped heavily to sign the striker.

Gyokeres has stated that his desire to play in the Champions League – a competition that man will qualify United if they beat Tottenham in the Europa League final on 21 May.

A move to Old Trafford would reunite the 26-year-old with Ruben Amorim, among whom he won the Primeira Liga title of last season.

Arsenal is also seen as front runners for the signature of Gyokees with the side of Mikel Arteta in a desperate need for attacking reinforcements.

Mundo Deportivo, however, reports that the relationship of Atletico Madrid with Nike could be the key factor in the future of Gyokeres.

The American retailer is kit suppliers of Los Colchoneros and sponsor Gyokeres, while both Man United and Arsenal have supplied their kit by Adidas.

Nike renewed their deal with Atletico on Thursday with reports that claimed that the deal was worth a huge £ 24 million, so that they would make the third best European club in their selection after Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.

If one of their most controversial customers, Nike would be reluctant to see Gyokeres in the kit branded by their rivals, Adidas.

So much so that Catalan newspaper El Nacional even claimed that the clothing brand could pay part of the signing of the sporty Lisbon striker.

Gyokees has been reported on a large scale to have a release clause of £ 85 million. But it is now understood that sport would be willing to accept bids of approximately £ 58 million.

He would therefore be a much cheaper acquisition than colleague Arsenal -target White Alexander Isak, which was appreciated by Newcastle at £ 150 million.

Gyokees was asked last month for a move to the Emirates, but he remained tight about his future.

Press whether he likes London, with a smile on his face, he simply said, “I love Lisbon.”

When he commented on the agreement of his reported gentlemen with Sporting that he can leave in the coming window, Gyokees noted: “I can't say anything about that.”

Before we add: “Nobody can predict what will happen, we enjoy the moment.”
