Manchester United -boss Ruben Amorim has lifted the lid about why he made the decision to leave Andre Onana from his team to be confronted in Newcastle United on Sunday.
The versions of Onana have again been under the microscope after a recent enchantment of bad form, which also supplied a word war between him and Nemanja Matic.
Matic claimed that the Cameroonian keeper was one of the worst shot stoppers in the long history of Man United, for the Euroopa League Quarter-Final first-leg draw from his Lyon side with the Red Devils.
Even worse for Onana, that game saw him make two major mistakes that led to goals, with the French side 2-2 with United.
Now for the collision with the Magpies, the United Head Coach has decided to drop him for Altay Bayindir, who makes his first Premier League appearance of the season.
“Of course you have to see the context,” Amorim Sky Sports told about his decision.
“It's a normal thing. Sometimes you have to push the player to play again, sometimes you have to let him go a little.
'Tomorrow he will be in training to prepare for the next one [Lyon] So I felt it was a good time for Andre to link loose.
'I think he was fine [about it] Because I explained it and then, you don't have to like it [it]But you understand because I explain every situation.
“It's a normal situation. You have to manage everything, sometimes people just look at the physical aspect, but the mental aspect is real, very important.
“It's just one game and we always give a chance, he deserves it too and then, again, a new life tomorrow and we will prepare for the next one.”
After the draw in France, Amorim had hinted that Onana could be omitted from the next game.
Following the difficult evening of Onana in Lyon, Amorim said: 'We have to be confronted in Newcastle with a team that can be competitive to win the game.
'Sometimes winning games is the best way to prepare for the next one. Of course I will be careful with some players, but again, we have to be competitive. '
Onana is one of a number of changes that were made to the United Side on Sunday evening to be in Newcastle.
Perhaps the most striking rotation, Mail Sport reported exclusively that the 18-year-old full-back Harry Amass will start in the defense in what his entire Premier League debut would be.
Amass received his competition debut from the bank last month in the 3-0 win in Leicester City, but is now rewarded with a start.
The teenager arrived in United from Watford in 2023 and flourished with both the teams under 18 and under-21.
While Erik ten Hag was in charge, Amass trained routinely with the first team and made the bank for a number of first team matches.
