Rice heroics look to have given him hunger for more influence in attacking third

The two superlike declan rice free-kicks that Real Madrid fell on Tuesday evening were still chewed in the emirates, four days later.

So much, Rice's celebration after he had hit his second goal in the 3-0 first leg victory of the quarter-finale-equal game of the Champions League was the cover of the match day program-for Arsenal's Premier League match against Brentford.

It was a special night, perhaps the best since the Emirates opened in July 2006, so that competition is still being reflected. But the front of Saturday also served as a reminder for Rice to continue to take advantage of a certain aspect of his game.

Implementation of world class, yes, but broader, his need to influence more games from an attacking sense to go that next level and to become a world -class midfielder.

The capacity of the 26-year-old to thwart counterattacks, use tackles and use clever positional consciousness, his talents are amenal supporters from week to week.

Immediately from the kick -off on Saturday, Rice was in a deeper position than normal on the left. At 10 minutes he played the ball to an additional Gabriel Martinelli in the hope of giving and going, the Brazilian who rode to the name rule instead.

Another moment saw him take a few players with confidence after 41 minutes and marched in the box before his stabbed shot at goalkeeper Flekken was taken away.

It is his figures in attack that can improve with the tools that he apparently already has in his safe. He scored four goals in the Champions League, but only two in the competition. From a competition perspective, he can score more and offer more open-play assists of his six competition assists, two have been of set pieces.

When Mail Sport Mikel Arteta then asked if Rice's Brace had wrapped the player's appetite against Real Madrid to score, he replied: 'Yes, sure. Every time you score a goal after you have the feeling, you can score again.

“I think he also had an incredible action in the goal he scored today. Walking the ball in open space until the right time to release Thomas (Pedey) and to leave him one against one situation with the keeper. I think again a really strong performance (of him) again. '

It seemed as if his Tuesday evening heroic's rice had given hunger for an increased influence in the attacking third.

That overall ride was reflected by his looting drive that Arsenal led after 61 minutes.

The corner kick of Bryan Mbeumo was caught by David Raya, the goalkeeper rolled the ball bunge to Rice.

The husband of England was not far outside the area, but was already ready for an incurring opportunity.

He took the ball and ran almost the entire throw with Brentford's players who shoot in his wake. He overlooked both parties when approaching the opposition box and identified Thomas Partey Open on the right.

His birth was muted and Pedey did the rest and scored past Mark Flekken. For a player with the nickname 'Horse' by his teammates for a capacity to run around with unlimited energy, you could see why. That power to be blitz through meters of grass within a few seconds is a real asset to counterattacks and breaking midfield lines.

A word of warning for real: the midfielder had his eyes on set pieces, even before the game started. He underwent a free kick and ping a few outside the area. Not all went in in any way, but that free capacity to hit the ball with both strength and curl of a Dead-Ball Scenario was seen again.

There is more rice to come, but for the time being it is obvious that both his attacking and defensive skills will be needed on Wednesday if the Gunners have to exclude the Spanish giants again and continue to the semi -final of the Champions League.

After all, that is the last hope for the glory of Arsenal this season.
