Insiders at TNT sports are increasingly worried that Rio Ferdinand will be new to Weiden at the end of the season.
News that the former management company of England and Manchester United, New Era, has signed a partnership with the talent agency Giants Wme-broken in Beverly Hills broken by the Hollywood Reporter-Is known that he has raised eyebrows on TNT HQ.
Ferdinand, 46, has been for more than a decade at the broadcaster (previously known as BT Sport), after participation in 2013 and is seen as an integral part of the coverage.
Mail Sport can, however, reveal that the fear that he will leave at the end of this season have been exacerbated by the fact that he still has to sign a contract to extend his stay that was offered a few months ago.
The bosses had hoped that the deal would have now been completed – but the chance that that happens seem to take the longer it stays on the table.
A switch to the US would be logical for Ferdinand, who picked up 81 caps for his country. Now that the World Cup will take place in the Atlantic Ocean next year, WME is concentrating on securing opportunities in the US for the West Ham Academy product both on and outside the screen.
Their stable includes a large number of famous names in sports, acting and music. Losing Ferdinand, who has more than 30 million followers on social media platforms, would be a serious blow to TNT in what an ever -disputed market is.
What happens next is perhaps fascinating. WME – William Morris Endeavor – are generally seen as a Hollywood heavyweight. They represent some of the largest A-Listers on the planet, including people like Ryan Reynolds, Jessica Alba and Maggie Gyllenhaal. In sport, their stable comprises some of the leading names in NBA and in the broadcast.
The website states: 'WME Sports represents the stars of today and Hall-of-Famers, athletes, coaches, broadcasters, managers and institutions that exercise at the forefront of culture. From record-breaking contracts and blockbuster brand partnerships to building first media companies in its kind, WME Sports helps customers to maximize income and to expand their influence outside the game.
