Manchester United has passed a miserable start to the Premier League campaign and a club legend has chosen one player who must 'increase' because of the team.
The Red Devils started their season with a 1-0 home defeat by Arsenal that was succeeded by a disappointing 1-1 draw in Fulham on Sunday.
Ruben Amorim currently leaves those results in 16th place in the rankings – already five points on Drift from Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool who all have a record of 100 percent.
And after the weekend draw in Craven Cottage, Rio Ferdinand has focused on one of Amorim's current starters to do better in goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.
“We look shaky. The goalkeeper does not fulfill me with massive confidence, “he said on his Rio Ferdinand presents YouTube channel.
'I have to be honest with you, he made a great salvation in the game of Joshua King, when he came with his feet, he did really good there.
'But from set pieces, even outside the goal, he comes for things that are 50-50 and he doesn't know for sure. The entire backline does not look good in that area, not just the goalkeeper to be honest. '
'He [Bayandir] must enliven. I'm sure. I will tell you what I would do, I would get it on the field every day and break balls under the bar.
'He has to get used to it, he has to get used to contacting and training a way. Make sure that the referee is aware that there will be contact. Call, let him be informed to look at you, so if there is any contact, as in the Fulham game, you get the free kick.
“I don't think he's talking enough, he doesn't make people aware of what's going on and then his decision -making was not good enough at those moments.
'I don't think he has seen enough of it, Declan Rice waves balls straight under his nose. He is not alone by being missing a bit of trust. '
The status of Bayandir as the current first choice could, however, be quickly restricted with United who closes Senne Lammens in a £ 17 million deal from Royal Antwerp.
As detailed by Daily Mail Sport last week, the 23-year-old is seen as a keeper for the long term and is expected to compete with regular No. 1 Andre Onana whose future in question has been after a series of whimsical versions last season.
Lammens, a 6ft 3 in Belgium Under-21 International, debuted in July 2021 for Bruges before moving to Antwerp two years later, making him a first performance for the club in November in a defeat of Champions League by Porto.
United needs coverage because Onana will probably miss part of the season because of its involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations campaign of Cameroon in December.
