Only one UFC division has fewer active hunters than heavyweight, so are Joe Rogan's worries justified over the shallow depth?
Last month Joe Rogan shared a great concern about the UFC Heavyweight Division, claiming that the weight class is “superficial” compared to what it once was.
“I thought I recently, because if they don't make Jones vs Tom Aspinall, what is compelling?” Thought after the UFC commentator – Bloody Elbow caught up with an increase in heavyweight prospect to ask him about those comments.

10-0 Heavyweight Competent responds to Joe Rogan's comments
In an exclusive conversation with Bloody Elbow, Mick Parkin wanted to drive home, the fact that the heavyweight division is only shallow in terms of the number of hunters, not the fights themselves.
'It's not superficial as if there are no hard fights [out there]There are many hard fights, but I think I recently saw someone on Instagram, I think [it said] Only 30 hunters were signed in the heavyweight division as soon as they had released people.
“30 people, that's like a few fights and you're already at the top; As if that is all that you can fight, 30 people – or 29 including yourself – there might be more, but that sounds good. “
The UFC Roster Watch website currently states 33 active hunters in the heavyweight division – only one division has less than that figure, the Women's Bantamweight division, with 32.
“It is superficial because there are not many fights, but it is also the most [entertaining division] Because you could let it enjoy that someone will win this weekend, such as 'he will definitely win' – and he can [still] Be eliminated by the other man, “Parkin continued.
“That is what is so exciting about it, and sometimes they can absolutely look terrible, you think” this man looks absolutely terrible “and he can still do the [other] Person in the final round and win the victory. “
Although it is perhaps true that the heavyweight division is not as populated as it once was, the lack of meaningful competition also means that it is easier (or at least faster) to go through the ranks.
“So it's hard to judge, but yes, it's superficial there, not many people … that's clear why it is, there are just not so many of us – which is also good for me, I can get there [to the top] A little faster. “
Mick Parkin returns to action on March 22 in UFC London
Mick Parkin earned his place on the UFC selection with a brutal first round knockout on Dana White's Contender Series in August 2022; And since then it has been perfect in the octhoek.
The English Juggernaut scored three unanimous decisions in his first three attacks under the UFC banner, before he landed a monumental first round of Lukasz Brzeski in his last fight.
Parkin, now 10-0 as a professional, returns to action on the provisional map of UFC Fight Night: Edwards vs Brady, and state of division meter, Marcin Tybura.
At the time of writing, Parkin retains around 65% of the picks of the tapology community, of whom the majority predicts a different decision for the rising 29-year-old.
UFC Fight Night: Edwards vs Brady is planned for Saturday, March 22 in the O2 Arena in London.
