Rising UFC star flies to Miami hoping to secure Michael Chandler vs Paddy Pimblett backup role at UFC 314

Mauricio Ruffy wants to continue his hot streak and hopeful on a surprising appearance on the UFC 314 card next Saturday.

Since his fight on the Contender Series of Dana White in 2023, Mauricio Ruffy has quickly emerged in one of the greatest potential stars in the promotion and is labeled as a guaranteed future champion.

His stock rose ten times at UFC 313 when Ruffy De Knock -Out of the Year scored against Bobby Green and took the biggest victory of his career so far.

Despite the beating of the veteran, Green, the 28-year-old is still not ranked in the top 15 at lightweight and will hope for a large matchup next time.

However, the Fighting Nerd does not want to be out of operation for long, because he is already looking at the Octagon, even though he only fought in March.

The coming weekend the promotion will return to Miami for UFC 314 for what one of the events of the year is stacked with the card from top to bottom.

In the Co-Main event, fellow-increasing star, Paddy Pimblett Michael Chandler absorbs what is a huge fight in the lightweight division.

Not only because he fights teammates on the map, but Ruffy travels to Miami, hoping that he can be the backup for that fight in case Pimblett or Chandler will withdraw.

“I will be there without a doubt. I will go there, I will be there for the fighting, that is one of the reasons why I came here to be there for my teammates, but the other is that I am ready to go,” Ruffy told Mmajunkie.

“If Pimblett or Chandler comes down or something happens and they can't fight, I am ready to go here, I will be ready to perform and fill that place,” Ruffy continued.

Ruffy's teammate, Jean Silva, will compete on the map against Bryce Mitchell in what a long -awaited matchup is, but Ruffy also has an adopted teammate who competes on the map.

Ruffy focused on UFC 317 if he doesn't fight UFC 314

It is unlikely that the Brazilian will have the opportunity to compete next Saturday, Ruffy will focus on a return at the end of June for UFC 317 to International Fight Week.

Ruffy is hopeful on a fight against UFC veteran, Beneil Dariush and has revealed that the UFC is looking around to put that fight together.

With a victory over 'Benny D', Ruffy could possibly crack the top 10 and it would not be too far away from the lightweight title interview.
