Real Madrid agreed to sign River's young attacker Franco Mastantuono for a first fee of around $ 45 million, a spokesperson for the Argentinian club told Reuters on Thursday.
The 17-year-old Mastantuono debuted for River in January 2024 and is generally considered by the local media as the newest prodigy that emerges from Argentinian football.
A talented left -wing Finisher, he settled as a starter under coach Marcelo Gallardo and soon became an important part of the team based in Buenos Aires.
“The sale is settled, in the last conversations it will remain about a few details,” a club source told Reuters, who did not provide any further information about the transfer.
Mastantuono was linked to other major European clubs such as Manchester United and Paris St. Germain after they had attracted attention with a beautiful free kick in Superclasico victory of River Plate on Boca Juniors in April.
River is planning to keep the attacking midfielder on loan in the club until December to complete their Copa Libertadores campaign, according to Local Press Reports.
Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni recently called Mastantuono for the first time for matches against Chile and Colombia in the South American qualifications.
He could become the youngest player to make his senior debut for Argentina.
