Real Madrid will not make a move for River Plate star Franco Mastantuono in January.
Los Blancos have been tracking the 17-year-old for more than 12 months, with reports from Marca in 2024 that he was keen to move to Madrid as they agreed terms.
However, despite the ongoing link, Mastantuono is under contract until 2026 and the club would prefer a delayed exit.
Mastantuono doesn't turn 18 until August and a summer move would be easier for everyone involved and reports from Diario AS indicate this is the plan.
Furthermore, should Real Madrid make a bid for the Argentina U17 international in January, River Plate is willing to hold on to his full release clause of €40 million, with the potential to increase that to €45 million.
Club sources indicate that talks are already underway to complete a transfer, but there is no chance of him making a move in early 2025.
