RM target Alonso yet to decide future, Basque manager to reject rumours publicly

Bayer Leverkusen not only has a range of players who will catch the eye of the European giants next summer, but is also arguably Europe's most coveted manager. Xabi Alonso has been tipped to leave Die Werkself to join Real Madrid next summer, but the Basque manager has done no such thing.

At least that is according to Marca, who say neither the manager nor the club have made any moves regarding his future as his contract expires in 2026. Alonso will make a call on his future in March and it is noted that he tends to make these decisions with his head rather than his heart. As for the rumors, the Spanish newspaper claims that Alonso will publicly deny a deal with Real Madrid at his next press conference.

They do admit that there is an agreement between Leverkusen and Alonso that allows him to leave if he decides to do so, but nothing else. On the other hand, it has been noted that Los Blancos have not sought a new manager before the end of the season in both of their most recent appointments.
