RMD “won’t change stance on resigning club legend” despite injury crisis & calls
Real Madrid will reportedly not change its position on Sergio Ramos' resignation.
Ramos has publicly flirted with the idea of making a sensational return to the Santiago Bernabeu in the wake of Eder Militao's likely season-ending ACL injury.
Madrid are now looking for defensive cover and Ramos' position as a free agent makes it easy to get a deal done, with Carlo Ancelotti open to a move.
However, club chairman Florentino Perez is not convinced and refuses to change his position on the matter, Marca reports.
Ramos has not played since leaving Sevilla at the end of last season and it was previously reported that Madrid are not convinced he can continue at the top level.
The 38-year-old is dreaming of a magical return to the club where he earned legendary status and posted a video of a lung-busting workout on Instagram, in which he runs uphill on a farm and claims he 'feels strong'.
Former Los Blancos star Guti had also backed Ramos to rejoin Madrid, but the club are considering other options instead.
The Spaniard left Madrid in 2021 after 16 seasons, having won five LaLiga and four Champions League titles.
He initially went to Paris Saint-Germain for two seasons before returning to boyhood club Sevilla last season.
Meanwhile, Militao faces a lengthy rehabilitation process after suffering a devastating fracture to his right knee during their 4-0 defeat to Osasuna last weekend.
Dani Carvajal, who finished fourth in the Ballon d'Or election, is already out for the season with the same accident. David Alaba suffered the same fate last December and may not return until the new year.
It is heartbreaking for Militao, who also missed most of last campaign with a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, and a serious problem for Carlo Ancelotti. The Brazilian defender will undergo surgery, Madrid have confirmed.
Hence the excitement among fans seeing Ramos share his latest video, in which he showed off a rippling body despite not being on the sidelines.
