Robert Lewandowski admits rationing out effort over last two months to maintain fitness

Barcelona lives in all three most important trophies that go into the last part of the season, but as much as they keep their shape, they have to keep their fitness to end with silverware. An injury to Marc Casado before the international break was a sharp memory of how quickly depth can be influenced, while different players have been fitness problems while they are employed.

Including Robert Lewandowski, who, last week, screamed out of the victory of Poland over Lithuania, and doubted their Monday evening conflict with Malta. Various reports claimed that Ferran Torres would probably start on Thursday against Osasuna in his place. The 36-year-old came up in the 66th minute of their 2-0 win, even though he was doubts about the game, but after the game had solved doubts about his fitness or a potential pact between the Polish team and Barcelona.

“No, no, no, I didn't even talk to anyone about that in Barcelona.

“I feel much better than for this international training camp, because then there were a few pains in the last three games, for example the fact that I could not kick my right leg once, even during warm-ups. Now everything is normal again, so it is a plus that I am back at the fitness that I had two or three weeks ago.”

Lewandowski also admitted that so far he had picked and chosen his moments in 2025 to fight for the final phase of the season.

“I prepared for the end of the season to maintain that freshness. I knew that this season would be different than normal, because in January there was the Champions League and then the play -offs. I knew that this season would really start, you could say, during this period after the international break.”

“Now the most important games are coming, so I'm not going to lie, somewhere in the back of my mind I thought not to give it everything during the last two, two and a half months, to retain this freshness and momentum.”

The ability to last the season is a question mark that Lewandowski's feet were thrown several times, after a weak season last year, and a fast start this season that has been delayed in recent months. The Blaugrana will hope that the words of Lewandowski are a promise that they will see the best of their experienced number nine in the decisive phase of the campaign.
