Robert Lewandowski is now perhaps 36 years old, but he has not lost his scoring touch in Barcelona, despite question marks about his general performances. He even had a new life of life under head coach Hansi Flick, with whom he previously worked with a great effect in Bayern Munich.
Since the arrival in Barcelona in the summer of 2022, Lewandowski has played 131 times, which speaks of his fitness levels that he is regularly available for selection. In those matches he scored 92 times, with the last against Atletico Madrid during the 4-4 draw on Tuesday in the first stage of their Copa del Rey Semi-final draw.
That goal also brought Lewandowski to 33 goals for the season in all competitions, and according to Marca that means that he has matched his best count in a campaign for Barcelona, which he reached during his first season in the club in 2022-23.
Lewandowski played 46 games in that first season to gain 33 goals, but on this occasion he managed to reach that figure in 10 fewer performances. It goes with his ruthless goals in the objectives that he was able to do this, even though he is in football in the last phases of his shimmering career.
Lewandowski is certainly not as prominent as he was during his first season in Barcelona, as was shown against Athleti when he started on the couch. However, he still succeeded in getting himself as a replacement on the score sheet, which shows that in the last 15 months he can be a very valuable figure for the Catalans that he will remain until at least the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
In addition to Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, Lewandowski has formed a fantastic and dynamic attacking trio in Barcelona this season, and although he has not fished as much as the wing duo, he is still a very valuable player for Flick.
