Roberto Firmino is connected to an unlikely move to Real Madrid in the Spanish press, and he could be connected to the former teammate of Liverpool Trent Alexander-Arnold in Spain
Joselu remains something of a cult hero in Real Madrid, so much that they want to make another one.
The former Stoke and Newcastle Forward may have been flopped in the Premier League, but he is happy to be remembered in the Spanish capital after scoring crucial goals on his way to the victory of the Champions League in 2024, especially his Late Brace in the semi -final victory.
Joselu, who had passed the ranks as a young person and now played in Saudi Arabia, was only on loan in the club for that one season, but he managed 18 goals in 49 performances in all competitions while playing a vital support role.
And last season without such a player – a campaign in which Real de la Liga title lost to Barcelona and from the Champions League in the quarter -final stage to Arsenal crashes – his Real is now looking for someone to play a similar part in their team.
Enter Roberto Firmino. The Liverpool legend is connected to a surprise switch on the Bernabeu by the Spanish publication, because, with the Brazilian, 33, has just ended his second season in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ahli.
After he initially struggled to settle in Saudi, Firmino has 21 goals in it in 65 performances, and he was the leader of Al-Ahli to the AFC Champions League Elite title this season.
The AS report states that Real is looking for a 'pure old school' no. 9, and although that does not describe precisely Firmino during his time in Liverpool, it is thought that he could do a good job for a season to supplement Kylian Mbappe in attack.
Firmino is also seen as someone who could play a vital banking role for the team and develop the young attackers in the Club Academy for another year, with Gonzalo Garcia, 21, who caught the attention after scoring 25 goals for the B team this season.
If he completes a switch to the Bernabeu, Firmino would of course come into contact with Real Madrid's newest recruit Trent Alexander-Arnold, who won it all next to him in Liverpool during Jurgen Klopp's Golden Years on Anfield.
He would also have colleague Brazilians Eder Militao and Vinicius JR to call as teammates, although it is still to be seen whether the new real boss Xabi Alonso will be receptive to the move.
