Andy Robertson has left for another year to his contract with Liverpool, but he comes in the Summer Transfer window in the midst of uncertainty about his place in Arne Slot's Squad
Andy Robertson has hinted that his time as the first choice of Liverpool could end this summer with the club ready to bring the competition. Liverpool is planning to be busy in the summer transfer window after securing the Premier League title and is linked to Bournemouth -defender Milos Kerkez.
Robertson has been in Liverpool since 2017 and has been one of the first names on the team magazine for the past eight years. If he is suitable, he has preferred Kostas Tsimikas, but it seems that he knows that his status can be threatened next season – if he stays in Anfield.
The 31-year-old Scotland International has left for a year to his contract with Liverpool, but in contrast to Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, no new conditions have yet been offered. He has made it clear that he would like to extend his stay, but it seems that the Reds have different priorities, where the transfer window is getting closer.
Although much of the focus is currently on Florian Wirtz, who can participate with his Bayer Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong, Kerkez is also a target for Liverpool. The Hungary International enjoyed an impressive campaign for Bournemouth and was able to take the place of Robertson in the starting line-up next season.
Speaking after the trophy lift on Sunday, Robertson told the competition of the day: “We will clearly have a busy summer, so we have to see where everyone is standing. But it has been a special time here – I loved my time here.
“It has been eight special years, and as I said, I will cherish every moment that I played for these fans, especially in Anfield. Today was special.”
It seems that Robertson has not received any guarantees about his place, with lock aimed at reinforcement across the board for 2025/26. Asked by Gary Lineker When he will start thinking about next season, Slot replied: “A few months ago. I think this is the most important phase of the season to get the team you want as a club – and that is something that we are trying now. But of course that does not start today, certainly not in this club; we have rejected our goals a long way back.
Did you say! Does Liverpool need a new left back this summer? Respond below.
“And the work, not so much of me, but especially from Richard Hughes, our sports director, has started a long way back and now we try to get what we want. But to make it clear, we already have a very good team and we try to make it even stronger if we can.”
Kerkez has hinted that he could leave Bournemouth this summer. He wrote on Instagram: “38 games, 38 started, we finished the job and broke the record, thanks to the fans and everyone for support, thanks to the Gaffer for the confidence me to start all 38 games and especially thanks to those above to keep me safe and healthy and of course nothing would be possible without my family, I don't know what will happen in the following week, but Cerries Famy You!”
