Robertson responds to Liverpool transfer rumours with clear message on future

Liverpool is planning to make transfers in the summer window and Andy Robertson has made his feelings clear on his own future before Arne Slot strengthens on the left

Andy Robertson wants to follow in the footsteps of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk by signing a new contract in Liverpool. Robertson has been in Liverpool since 2017, but is about to enter into the last year of his current deal and knows that his place is being threatened in the side.

The Scotland International is still the first choice of left back in the club, with a challenge of Kostas Tsimikas. But there have been times this season when Robertson seemed to be a weak link in the defense of the Reds – and the position could be an area where Arne Slot decides to strengthen in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool is interested in signing Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez and has received positive news in recent days. Despite the fact that he helped his party to help a second Premier League title in five years, Robertson is well aware of his vulnerable status that the low season takes effect.

While Trent Alexander-Arnold will probably come to Real Madrid on a free transfer, Salah and Van Dijk have signed new two-year contracts with Liverpool. Robertson has made it clear that he would like to extend his stay in the club if they will have him.

In a conversation with Jamie Carragher for Football for Change's Charity Lunch, as reported by the Liverpool Echo, Robertson said: “I only have a year left. So I hope you can all (the fans) help me with the same sound around a new contract if you did with Mo and Virgil's!

“Maybe you can stop linking the club with other left backs too! No look, I have had eight wonderful years so far and I have had a year left. I am not as young as I ever was, but I love this club and I have had some great memories here, so let's see what the future has in store.

“I still believe that I can still produce good versions and a number of really good versions and I think I have done that this season, so I still think I can produce at the highest level and if I can do that, I can belong and hopefully I can stay here for many years.”

Did you say! Should Liverpool sign a new left back this summer? Respond below.

Robertson wants to be part of the Slot team in the future, after he has seen the potential in the team of the Dutchman. “That is what we hope. It is now so competitive in terms of the teams involved and our team under Jurgen [Klopp] Sometimes it was incredible, “he added.

“And if you look at the points we have collected and lost from two competition titles and then the one we packed (in 2020), Champions League finals and things like that, it is something we are all proud of how far we went, but we also believe that we should have had more.”
