Ronald Araujo admits to confidence issues amid questions over Barcelona future

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has admitted that his form was influenced by a lack of confidence last season, after a disappointing campaign in which he lost his starting place. The 26-year-old assured that he would stay back this season and go back to his best in Camp Nou.

Araujo missed the first six months of last season after having undergone an operation with a muscle crack that suffered from the Uruguay obligation. In January he was then the subject of a transfer bod by Juventus because he was associated with a move. Despite signing a contract until 2031, questions about his future will continue in the Catalan capital.

The club's vice-captain has twice in doubt about his future in public in recent months, but with Barcelona to register new signing sessions, the idea remains that they want a big sale. Araujo is determined that he is not going anywhere.

“Naturally [I’m 100% sure I’m staying]. I am very happy in Barcelona, they have not seen the best Ronald yet and he is the one who will come in the coming years, “he explained to MD.

There were also struggles for Araujo on the field last season. His appearance of the couch against Inter in the semi -final of the Champions League saw him struggling on two of the Italian goals in the Giuseppe Meazza. However, his mentality was now in a different place.

“Mentally, I am sure. Last year I lost part of that confidence with the injury. This year I am very motivated.”

Last season, Inigo Martinez and Pau Cubarsi became the starting pair for Flick and performed well for most of the season. Cubarsi is the most important passer -by for the Barcelona backline, and Martinez became the one who left the backline and the offside trap and offered extra obstacles for his route back to the start XI. That said, Arajo is physically the most gifted of the three, and at best with every attacker can make it together. Hansi Flick reportedly spoke to his confidence in Araujo Privé.
