Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo has now been back training with the group for around two weeks and is nearing his return to action following hamstring surgery. He will be part of their expedition to Germany to take on Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.
Araujo will be part of Sport's Champions League squad but is unlikely to feature in their match at Signal Iduna Park. However, he could be given a medical green light on German soil, but it is uncertain whether he will receive that before the match. Barcelona will stay in Dortmund on Wednesday evening and train there on Thursday morning. Therefore, Araujo's presence is partly logistical, allowing him to continue training with the team.
The 25-year-old is likely to make his return against Leganes on Sunday evening, when he will gradually begin his introduction into the team again, probably starting from the bench. Manager Hansi Flick will undoubtedly be happy that Araujo is back and can hopefully fight fit in January. So far, Inigo Martinez and Pau Cubarsi have played virtually the entire campaign, with Eric Garcia only recently available as a senior alternative and Sergi Dominguez playing here and there.
