It is not the first time that Cristiano Ronaldo (39) made a move in French football last month. However, in the wake of his latest prank, the experienced Portugal international has been linked with a move to Ligue 1.
“[The] The Saudi League is of course better than Ligue 1. France only has Paris Saint-Germain. The rest is done,” the Portuguese international said at the latest edition of the Globe Soccer Awards.
That comment echoes similar remarks made a year earlier at the same awards ceremony. Ronaldo is nearing the end of his contract with Saudi side Al Nassr and questions about his future loom as he approaches his 40th birthday.
Since these derogatory comments about Ligue 1, the striker has in fact been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, who may be looking for a striker this month or in the summer, according to reports in France. However, Fabrizio Romano understands that as things stand, PSG are not in talks to sign Ronaldo.
