Brazilian legend Ronaldo has revealed that one of his former teammates once drank 100 bottles of wine in just two weeks.
Ronaldo is generally regarded as one of the greatest strikers of football ever after leading Brazil to World Cup glory in 2002, while he was also part of the team that kicked the trophy in the US eight years earlier.
He was also known for his party lifestyle away from the field, but has now mentioned one player who even he could not keep track of when it came to a drinking session.
Ronaldo played with Vampeta for Brazil, PSV Eindhoven and Inter Milan, but the World Cup Golden Boot winner claimed that his teammate did not stop emptying his wine cellar when he was out of the city.
“He (vampeta) stayed in my house and I went to Brazil,” Ronaldo told Charla Podcast. 'He had a wine cellar with 100 bottles and he drank them all in two weeks!
“He completed all the bottles and opened more boxes he had in the apartment until he found one that was special. It was a bottle from 1976 that I bought in a restaurant in Paris for 10,000 euros.
“He and his friends opened this bottle and each gave us a plastic cup. He said it was hot and ice put in! I couldn't believe it because, as I said, it was just a wine for display. '
After his heroic performances for Brazil in 2002, Ronaldo sealed his dream movement to Real Madrid and scored 104 goals in 177 performances during a five -year spell in the club.
But he admitted that he was not always fully focused on football because he would treat himself to travel around Europe to party between competitions.
“I was all (parties),” he said. 'I played on Saturday and then went to Paris. I spent Sunday in Paris and went to the party that evening.
'At seven o'clock in the morning I took the plane to Madrid and arrived at nine o'clock in the morning at 10 am. I did this many times.
'In the city in which you play, you have a party at home or you are dead. So I left and traveled.
“I have always been one to organize parties and to ensure that everyone is happy.”
