Ronda Rousey inspired this UFC Atlanta star to start MMA despite fear of being ‘punched in the face’

Ronda Rousey is an icon in the world of UFC and has helped inspire a new generation of hunters with her success.

The former Bantamweight champion of the UFC ladies is one of the greatest female hunters in the history of UFC.

Ronda Rousey won the very first female UFC fight in history at UFC 147 and started one of the most dominant governments in the history of promotion.

While Rousey's title government was ended by Holly Holm in one of the greatest disturbances of the UFC, her success inspired a UFC Atlanta star to try MMA for the first time.

Ronda Rousey inspired Miranda Maverick to start training in MMA

Rousey's Heroics in The Octagon directly inspired UFC Atlanta Co-Main Eventer Miranda Maverick to try her hand in mixed martial arts.

As a 14-year-old, the American hunter caught a glimpse of Rousey in action, which aroused her interest in sport and convinced her to try her hand in combat sports.

A fear of being hit in the face delayed her training, but with 17 years old she trained in Jiu-Jitsu.

“She was the first person I ever saw fighting. Her versus Liz Carmouche was my introduction to the idea that women even fought in MMA.” Maverick told Sportskeeda MMA Originals.

“I had no idea until that first female fight in the UFC. That was the first time it ever came to me.

“I was 14 years old and sat on the couch watching my father, and he said:” You could do that one day. “And I had something like:” No, I don't want to be hit in the face! “

“Then, flash three years, I thought,” You know, I think I'm going to a gym and trying Jiu-Jitsu. ” And two years later I decided that I would try MMA for the first time.

Unfortunately, Rousey retired four years before MMA's debut with MMA in the UFC, so a fight between the two never took place.

Miranda Maverick takes on Rose Namajunas in the UFC Atlanta Co-Main event

So far, Maverick will compete in the biggest fight of her career, because she wants to beat the #7 -arranged UFC -lady aircraft candidate Rose Namajunas at UFC Atlanta.

That fight is the Co-Main event of the show of 14 June, and it is easy to see why. Both women hopefully look at a future title shot, but only one will rise the ranking with a victory.

Maverick is a winning series on a four-fighter, while Namajunas is struggling since he made the leap to fly.

While the bloody elbow experts predict that Namajuna's Maverick will beat at UFC Atlanta, the emerging hunter will hope to get inspiration from Rousey and end the fight quickly.
