Wayne Rooney blamed Declan Rice from Ousmane Dembele's strike for Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League win in Arsenal.
The French champions will take a 1-0 advantage next week in the second stage in Paris after they have improved their English counterparts on Tuesday evening, enough with Dembele's early effort to separate the two parties.
Arsenal slowly started in the game and struggled to print PSG off the ball, because they found it difficult to adapt to life without the suspended Thomas Partey in midfield.
And it seemed to be a midfield problem that led to the first goal, in which Dembele set fire to from the edge of the box after good play by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to silence an excited emirates.
The Amazon Prime Video experts analyzed the goal after the game, where Rooney and Daniel Sturridge did not agree with who was to blame.
Rooney chose a man he had praised before the game – rice – suggesting that he should have covered the space that Dembele encountered before he scored.
“It is a really good pass that break the lines,” Rooney began. 'Arsenal has enough time to recover.
“Rice makes the wrong decision, he thinks he is trying to cover, but he leaves the space of the danger of where Dembele is.
“In the quarterfinals, the semi -final, they win details and lose the competition and today Arsenal has become a lot wrong.”
However, Sturridge did not agree. Instead, he pointed to one of the midfield partners of Rice, Mikel Merino, who suggested that he should have been shaken.
This term flourished in a more attacking role behind him in the form of Pedey – but his colleague – midfielder was suspended after he was booked against Real Madrid. Rice seemed frustrated at the time and Pedey grabbed the field and he was forced to adapt to PSG with Jorginho in the first stage.
It meant that he had to play in a deeper role, with Merino also falling deeper after he had recently impressed the impression.
“I don't blame Rice,” Sturridge said. “Merino runs back, but he doesn't run to the ball. He follows to the penalty place, he did not go to the ball. Rice is going to help and Merino is just worried about the position. '
Rooney was now full of praise for his countryman for the kick -off.
“I think he came to the world class,” said Rooney. “He has changed his position somewhat lately and it suits him.
“I wanted him even further today. Vitinha for PSG is important, but in terms of midfield three for both teams it is important to get the balance of when they continue and who checks the defense and organizing. '
