Ruben Amorim is 'naive' for focusing on a Premier League title with Manchester United, says the recorder Wayne Rooney of the club.
United is currently 14th in the Premier League table, 34 points behind leaders Liverpool and only 16 free of the relegation.
They were also beaten from the FA Cup by Fulham on penalties on Old Trafford on Sunday, with Amorim told that the setback did not change their long -term goal for domestic glory.
That led Rooney to question Amorim's ambition, although the United Baas replied that his party should not check their goals.
Rooney initially said: “I think it is a bit naive to say that they want to win the Premier League, because from where they are now, they are still a long way away.
“I think he gets time, but it's not a free hit because he will expect more from Manchester United than what we see since he has arrived.
“He says that winning the Premier League … How can they compete? To get further on the table, I think that's the next step for them.”
We win together and we lose together.

Amorim insists that he will not change his ambitions, even though he supervises only 10 victories of his 24 games that are in charge.
The United Boss said: “That [the title] Is the goal.
“Being naive is to think that we will win this season or that we will be the best competition for the following season.
“I know that everyone knows everything at the moment. I know it is very easy. I was an expert when I had my career ready. I know it is very easy.
“Our goal is to win the Premier League.
“Maybe it's not with me, but our goal as a club, the board, wins the Premier League as we did in the past with all the big glory and the legends of this club.”
