Wayne Rooney called the 'modest' supporters of Arsenal after their loss against PSG on Tuesday evening.
The Gunners fell on a 1-0 defeat in their semi-final of the Champions League after a goal from Ousmane Dembele in the first four minutes.
The expectations had been high among the arsenal supporters who were on their way, after their 3-0 demolition of Real Madrid in the Emirates in the quarterfinals.
After the early goal of Dembele, however, the home fans were sent in silence and struggled to generate the same atmosphere as against Madrid.
After the game, Rooney tore in the Arsenal supporters and insisted that he was 'disappointed' due to their lack of voice in the night.
Rooney spoke on Amazon Prime: 'She [PSG] Were by far the better team. Tactically they were excellent – they knew when they had to press and go into a bottom block. They could have won two or three.
'I was a bit disappointed about how they played and the fans too. They were excellent against Madrid, but today they were modest and it was an anticlimax. The fans had to be there tonight. On both sides it was not good enough of Arsenal. '
Rooney went on by saying: 'The players need help. I thought the fan here against Madrid was the best I had heard it. They gave an enormous amount of energy, but tonight they did not give them the same energy – it can be the difference.
“The fans have been a lot – and I don't blame them – but if they brought the same energy from Madrid, it could have given them a lift.”
Rooney also suggested that the Gunners suffer from a 'psychological fear' while analyzing their failures to win silverwork under Arteta.
He explained: 'I think Arteta tried to be just as positive … but there is a psychological fear of not coming over.
“I think there is a fear! An obstacle that they have to happen to. They walked Man City and Liverpool in the neighborhood, but you have to be successful on the journey and I don't think they are taking those steps.
'Arsenal is used to reaching a certain stage of the season and things are disappearing. I tell the truth. I want Arsenal to win, I hope they win the competition, but they have to go with faith in the game, Arsenal must be ready for a hostile atmosphere.
Former Arsenal -attacker Theo Walcott joined Rooney about Amazon's reporting and gave his suggestion why the Arsenal fans were subjected.
He said: 'Many fans will disappear disappointed, but there was more to PSG with how poor Arsenal sometimes were.
'We have noticed a change in the second half, [it had] More a Champions League feeling. It is a big question that they are getting a result. The energy created in the stadium from the Real Madrid, when the VAR threw in, took the filling from everyone.
