Rooney showed up at 10.30 am to formally start his new role as a regular expert for the broadcaster.
The former captain of Manchester United and England is supposed to have signed a lucrative deal worth around £ 800,000 a year to participate in the iconic football height program.
Arrived in the Dock10 Studios in MediaCityuk, Salford, Rooney looked confident when he walked past photographers and walked into the competition of the day production hub.
Rooney's transition from management to broadcast comes after spells in Plymouth Argyle, Derby County, DC United and Birmingham City.
The 39-year-old has no job since leaving Argyle due to mutual permission for New Year's Eve after a challenging seven-month spell that the management was in charge.
Rooney has made no secret of his Punditry pleasure since he took a step back from coaching, occasionally appearing on Amazon Prime Video for Champions League reporting last season.
In June he spoke with Talksport, he seemed to show that his immediate future would include more media work than management.
He said to the radio station: 'It is clear that I was just doing some TV work at the moment, so that's what I do. I enjoy it. So that's where I will be. '
Rooney's Switch also comes to a new era as a match of the day after the controversial departure of Gary Lineker.
Lineker confirmed his departure from the BBC in May and apologized unconditionally after he was accused of anti -Semitism by sharing someone else's social media.
The English legend left the BBC without a payment of his £ 1.4 million salary, while he, Shearer and Micah Richards continued to work together on the hugely popular podcast 'The rest is football'.
Lineker presented Match of the Day since 1999, with his 26-year-old Reign, making him the longest presenter in the history of the show.
