Roy Keane fears that a few stars have damaged their English hope with their performances against Albania.
He insisted that one player in particular has no confidence and the risk of falling from Thomas Tuchel's plans, unless he turns things around.
Tuchel started his ERA in England with a routine 2-0 victory on Friday evening in Wembley while his charges take their first steps in the direction of the World Cup 2026.
Myles Lewis-Skelly did herself every favor and became England's youngest debutant ever to score, while Harry Kane gave his 70th three lions goal to prevent a nervous end.
Tuchel chose Phil Foden on the right flank and Marcus Rashford on the left, and it is this couple that made no impression on Keane – especially the first.
“You have a new manager, you want to make a good impression, and Rashford and Foden have certainly not done that today,” he said ITV.
“If you are one of them attacking players, you get off the field and you have dominated such a game against an arm Albanian team, and you have not scored a goal, you have not had a shot on goal, you have not tested the goalkeeper, you would be disappointed because you are there to influence games.”
He scoured in Foden, added: 'I think he might have no confidence, and he is sure, his club form is not great, but we know he has that quality.
'But even tonight when he got it, I wasn't going there … Usually when FODEN are at his best, you sit there, something will happen, even when he cuts inside, he will faint a faint, take a shot, he hasn't done anything tonight.
“And every time he gets the ball now, I look at him going:” I don't expect anything from Foden at the moment. '
“Wherever he plays, you influence the game, you can influence the game in different ways, and he didn't do that tonight.”
'Listen, Foden will not have that problem about where he wants to play (wide out or without 10) because he will not play. That is a bigger problem for him. '
After the game, Tuchel said: 'Both our wing players who had started not as impactful as how they were in their clubs.
“They didn't have the influence we expected from them. We lacked the ball.
“There was too much over and not enough to wear the ball. We were not aggressively enough in the direction of the goal.
In the midst of the wider struggles of Manchester City, Foden has had a sharp dip in form of what was perhaps his best season ever last campaign.
FODEN created praises in abundance when he held in 27 goals and registered 13 assists in front of Pep Guardiola, but these term those numbers have been lowered to 10 and six respectively.
This season he has passed long droughts of goals and helped, but it is worth remembering that he is still only 24.
His status with England came under the microscope after a difficult campaign of Euro 2024 where, despite reaching the final with England, Foden struggled to impose the lesser -known left flank.
Later he told the Manchester Evening News: 'I feel frustrated that I didn't get what I wanted to get out of it. The position I was placed on the left was very difficult to influence the game.
'Last season come out as the best player in the Premier League and plays the midfield, I feel that the position was quite difficult to get used to it.
'I am someone who can play multiple positions and had to try to deal with them as well as possible. I don't feel that England once started working or acted to our potential. '
