Roy Keane says that Manchester United is still “not good enough” under Ruben Amorim after their scoreless derby – similar game with Man City – and says that he recently kicks “cups of tea about”.
United was the better side against the Pep Guardiola team – which caused the city to give all kinds of problems on the counterattack – but ultimately a lack of target threat.
Last week, Amorim's side lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest because of the solo goal of Anthony Elanga and he again looked at City.
This despite claims that United in March has a corner to have played four points of six against Arsenal and Leicester, as well as the victory over Real Sociedad in the Europa League last 16.
“I know that United Leicester and Real Sociedad defeated – but you look at the last few games and you go: this is not enough, this is not good enough,” said Sky Sports' Keane after the city game.
“Forget the United teams for which I played forget the top three or four teams that compete with Brentford, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Wolves? Do you tell me that Manchester United should be behind them?
“The majority of these players should do better than the teams I just mentioned.”
United created an XG of 0.92 against City, but did not have the murderer in the Manchester Derby. Alejandro Garnacho had the best of the first half chances, but did not succeed in converting up close, while Manuel Ugarte and Joshua Zirkzee came close after the break.
Zirkzee replaced Rasmus Hojlund after the hour, with the Danish attacker with only 15 touches of the ball and a new Premier League match without a shot.
“United can still be a target threat,” Keane added. “The few strikers they have in the club are not good enough for Man Utd, but there are other players in the team. There are broad players, defenders can score goals, there are set pieces.
