Ruben Amorim admits Man United stars are ‘confused’ and ‘afraid’
Ruben Amorim admitted his Manchester United players were 'confused' and 'scared' as they held on to draw at Ipswich.
United flew out of the blocks and took the lead after 81 seconds through Marcus Rashford, but they soon lost their way as they got to grips with Amorim's 3-4-3 system.
“If you see the first half you can see they are a bit scared,” said the United boss.
“When we don't have training and it's hard to say all the reactions to the players, we had two days, so they're a bit confused.”
Amorim added that he felt players were “thinking too much” as he tried to rid them of bad habits he picked up under predecessor Erik ten Hag.
Ipswich felt aggrieved that they had not won the match and Amorim said his players' decision-making, rather than his system, was to blame.
“Decision making is a concern,” he added. 'You don't have to coach them at this level. Some things we don't do at the right time and we have to do something about that.
'The 3-4-3 is not the problem, the understanding of the game is what we need to improve.
'It's a tough competition. You learn that at the very first moment. My players thought too much in the game, you can feel that. Not just on the ball, but also where they need to be. And that is difficult. It's only two days with the team, so it's really hard.'
