Ruben Amorim breaks Man Utd’s 33-year duck in just 48 SECONDS

It took Ruben Amorim's side just 48 SECONDS to break Manchester United's 33-year-old duck in his home debut.

It was the first time since 1991 that the Red Devils scored in the opening minute of a major European match.

The last time United scored one in the opening 60 seconds of a European clash was during Sir Alex Ferguson's fifth season.

It was Brian McClair (now 60) who opened the scoring against Montpellier in a UEFA Cup Winners' Cup tie.

Jonny Evans was only three years old. Casemiro wasn't even born yet.

But it was now Alejandro Garnacho, 20, who got United to their dream start – albeit through a Bodo/Glimt goalkeeping howl.

Garnacho was the one to put the ball in the back of the net, but the goal was entirely down to the hard work of Rasmus Hojlund.

He dispossessed the Bodo/Glimt stopper, who spent far too long with the ball in his own penalty area before trying to wrestle Hojlund down.

It was another fast start under Amorim, just like we saw in Ipswich.

But that quickly unraveled 19 minutes later when the visitors – from Norway's top division – pulled one back in an absolute screamer.

It was a blow for Amorim, who could be seen growing frustrated as his side failed to capitalize on their dominance.

And Bodo/Glimt incredibly turned the match on its head just four minutes later as the Norwegian team led 2-1.

Forest winger Zinckernagel defeated Tyrell Malacia, who certainly looked like a player who has not been on the field for 550 days.

Malacia, who was later taken off the pitch at half-time, had the lead but you wouldn't have known it when Zinckernagel fired a low effort that ended up under the legs of Andre Onana.

Goalscorer Garnacho continued to work as part of the front three – shifting from his full-back position during Sunday's 1-1 draw at Portman Road.

Hojlund leveled the scores on the brink of half-time with a brilliant right-footed volley – his best goal in a United shirt.

And it took just five minutes after the break before the 21-year-old Dane put the home team ahead again with a sliding finish.

United are in twelfth place in the European competition with three games to go.

Ferguson was at Old Trafford for Amorim's first home game, replacing Erik ten Hag.

The cinema quickly turned to the Scot, 82, after Garnacho's opener.

Meanwhile, Amorim dropped two names from his United team list for their Europa League match.

He named just ten players on the bench, two fewer than United's last European game against PAOK.

Teams are allowed to have twelve substitutes, with Bodo/Glimt choosing to fill their bench.
