Ruben Amorim delivers key update on whether £74m Benjamin Sesko is fit to start against Arsenal in season opener

Ruben Amorim has given an update on whether £ 74 million summer signing Benjamin Sesko is ready to start against Arsenal this weekend.

The Slovenia -International arrived last week when the tent signed the Summer in Old Trafford, with £ 62.5 million Matheus Cunha and £ 71 million Bryan Mbeumo in a total overhaul of Manchester United's attack.

But while Cunha and Mbeumo had the American tour for the season to bed in the team, Sesko only had a handful of training sessions.

However, that does not seem to be a barrier for the 6FT4 striker that leads the border against Arsenal on Sunday afternoon in the eyes of Amorim.

“We didn't have much time, but he is ready,” Amorim said Friday.

'First of all, he is physically ready and that is a big part in our competition. Then he is really smart. Every detail he asks, he is a man who always thinks.

“He spends here all afternoon with his fitness, so he is ready to play, we will see if he will start.”

He continued: 'I am really happy. He has a great potential in everything he does. He can play different types of football.

“He's going to feel that Premier League is really aggressive. He is going to learn, but he has a great potential.

“I see that Ben is a striker for Manchester United for many years, so we pay so much money to have a striker who will have his history in our club.”

Joshua Zirkzee and Andre Onana both returned to fitness and are also contenders to start at the side of Mikel Arteta.

Amorim chose the use of a no. 9 in the last pre-season match against Fiorentina, which means Rasmus Hojlund, who is interested in Fulham and AC Milan, has unused on the couch, but it is seen as unlikely to repeat the trick for the opening match of the season.

Sources at United are already speaking about Sesko's curious nature in the training and that is a characteristic that quickly loved him with his manager.

“He always thinks about football, he is really obsessed with and that is a good thing,” Amorim added.

'You don't have to think about that aspect with that young guy.

“I don't have to tell,” I am, this is Manchester United, a lot of pressure, you have to perform, you have to be ready for physicality “… I don't have that concern with that guy, I have the opposite … Enjoy a little.”
