Manchester United may want to strengthen their squad next month, with Ruben Amorim's side in fourteenth place in the Premier League.
United have lost their last three games in all competitions after crashing out of the Carabao Cup with a 4-3 defeat to Tottenham before failing to score in successive defeats to Bournemouth and Wolves.
Amorim clearly needs some reinforcements and United may have to sell players before they can sanction any incoming players. Marcus Rashford looks set to leave Old Trafford after being left out of Amorim's final four matchday squads, while Antony's agent has revealed there is interest in his services.
That said, Mirror Football takes a look at some of the biggest transfer stories surrounding Old Trafford.
Olmo looked
United are among a number of Premier League sides who may look to take advantage of Barcelona's financial problems by making a bid for Dani Olmo in January.
Olmo was only registered under a temporary arrangement at the end of 2024 after returning to Barcelona from RB Leipzig and could leave for free in January after Barcelona's commercial court rejected an appeal from the club.
And the Daily Mail reports that United, Manchester City and Arsenal are all ready to make a move if Olmo is available next month. The report adds that his agent, Andy Bara, has begun exploring Olmo's options.
Cunha battle
Arsenal are set to rival United for the signature of Wolves star Matheus Cunha, with both clubs eyeing a striker.
However, Mirror Football understands that Wolves have no plans to cash in on Cunha mid-season unless they receive an offer too big to turn down. Cunha is Wolves' top scorer this season with ten Premier League goals and will be crucial if they are to avoid relegation.
“In my opinion, he is a player who can reach high standards in this competition,” Wolves boss Vitor Pereira told Amazon Prime after their victory over United. When asked if Cunha could leave in January, Pereira added: “I hope not, I hope not, because we need him.”
Amorim urged to cut off stars
Alan Shearer believes Amorim will need to 'get rid' of some players if United are to get back to their best. The former England striker claims that much of the current squad is simply 'not good enough'.
“Results, off-the-field problems, Rashford,” Shearer said while discussing United's Boxing Day defeat to Wolves on BBC Match of the Day. “He [Amorim] said it himself, they will have to suffer for a while.
“And that is true, because many players at that football club are clearly not good enough. He should be able to get rid of players and bring in players who he thinks fit his system. But they are miles away.”
