Ruben Amorim has admitted that Manchester United should sell a number of players in the summer to finance his reconstruction of the team.
United has posted losses of more than £ 300 million over the past three years, with the owner of minorities Sir Jim Ratcliffe a ruthless cost -saving spree, in which more than 250 employees are fired, with possibly another 200 to lose their jobs.
Against that background, Amorim hinted at a huge exodus of players from United this summer, to offer the funds to help him rebuild the side and to have the team compete again for the big prizes.
Stars such as Casemiro, Antony and Marcus Rashford, the last two currently being loan from Real Betis and Aston Villa respectively, are among the players who can generate major costs for United to raise money to help Amorim sign new talent.
United could not afford to be great in the January window, to die from the need to meet the Premier League profit and sustainability rules (PSR) with Amorim who recognizes the financial pressure where the club is under.
“That problem is not new, we knew the rules of Fair Play, we are currently a problem, but my focus is on that and not on the other things,” Amorim said.
“Here it is easy – to do something, we have to sell players. But my focus is to prepare for the match against Tottenham on Sunday. The window is now closed, so we have to concentrate on the next game than in Summer we will see. “
For loan players who may bloom elsewhere, away from the pressure and research at United, Amorim said: “Sometimes it is, it can happen in any club.
“This is a club with a lot of pressure and in this club you have to have a basis with younger players, talented players, a strong foundation, but we don't have that at the moment. But you have to wear the pressure.
While discussing the pressure at Old Trafford, Amorim also aimed a subtle excavation on the opposite song Ange Postecoglou after being there that there was more expectation to succeed at Old Trafford than in Tottenham.
'I am a big fan of [Postecoglou]”Said Amorim. “I come from a different culture, I am Portuguese and the Portuguese coaches can adapt. I use one system at the moment, because I believe that if you work on that system, we will adjust it at the same time, but we do not win games.
“So I can understand the connection between me and ange. We have the same problems, but with all due respect I am in a larger club with greater pressure, but I think it is important to follow all these principles.”
