Ruben Amorim proves he’s no Sir Alex Ferguson after three Man United transfers collapse

Ruben Amorim has passed a difficult winter transfer window at Manchester United after a lack of large income.

The Red Devils, who are 13th in the Premier League table, welcomed two new signing sessions in Lecce Left Back Patrick Dorgu and the young Arsenal defender Ayden Heaven. However, attacking recruits did not come out, despite the goals of United this season.

The lack of additions comes despite a number of controversial outputs, including Academy graduate Marcus Rashford, who was banned from the first team by head coach Amorim. The 27-year-old sealed a loan movement for Aston Villa until the end of the season, while colleague Wideman Antony was allowed to leave after completing a loan on the Spanish side Real Betis.

United's challenges during the January window can be partially attributed to the collapse of three important deals. The club was connected to movements for Chelsea's Christopher Nunku and Starlet Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich, but failed to bind one of them.

In the meantime, a considerable deal for Joshua Zirkzee, presented by the Italian giants Juventus, was rejected. The 23-year-old had a difficult start of life at Old Trafford after United had selected £ 36.5 million last summer to secure his services from Bologna and to register only four goals and two assists this season.

The lowest point of Zirkzee came in the 2-0 defeat against Newcastle at the end of December when he was removed by Amorim in the first half. The attacker seemed to be teared in the decision and walked straight through the tunnel before he sat back in the dugout in the Dugout.

Although Amorim it was said that it likes to keep Zirkzee, according to Fabrizio Romano, a former player insists that his behavior would not have been tolerated by the legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson. In fact, ex-sizing and Wrexham goalkeeper Ben Foster, who spent five years in Old Trafford under Ferguson, believes the shot would have shown the exit door after his actions.

“When he ended the tunnel … If Alex Ferguson was a manager, that player would have been done,” Foster told the viewers on his YouTube channel.

“Whoever is, if you walk from that tone when you are finished after 30 minutes, get a jacket and walk into the dressing room immediately. You are ready. I promise you, you're done. It just doesn't work like that . “

Foster admitted that he felt sorry for Zirkzee, but his comments emphasize an important difference in style between the two managers, with Ferguson showing a lot of ruthlessness. Instead of losing Zirkzee or signing a replacement in Nunku and Tel, who were both discussed, but never came close, Amorim has chosen to keep confidence with the Dutchman despite his meager return of four goals.

In the meantime, it has been claimed that United's failure to add a new attacker in January came to only £ 5 million.

A number of attacking options presented themselves during the window, with Tel the most likely arrival. It later appeared on Sunday evening that Tel's move to Old Trafford had collapsed.

Furthermore, salt was rubbed in the wounds by the successful deadline day of Tottenham for the same player. According to athletics, Bayern's demands were more than United were willing to meet each other.

Their most important request, however, was a relatively modest loan costs of £ 5 million, without an option to buy at the end of the deal. The lack of activity leaves Amorim in a tough position, where the Red Devils so far experience a sad campaign and seems to be out of reach of European football.
