Ruben Amorim responds to Gary Neville’s ‘robotic’ Manchester derby blasting

Ruben Amrorim gave his opinion about Gary Neville's shoots from a boring Manchester derby on Sunday.

Manchester City and United played out what is considered to be one of the worst matches of the season, because they were 0-0 at Old Trafford – a result that none of the two teams did none of them.

After the game, the former United Defender Neville tore in the game itself and said on Sky Sports Commentary: 'They are micromanaged within a centimeter of their lives – so robot -like, that game – and fairly symptomatic, actually of many games we watch today. It's not good enough. I feel disappointed.

“It is a Manchester derby and it should have more blood, thunder and risk, and encourage playing in playing the game and trying to win the game than that.”

Amorim had previously said that Neville was 'critical of everything' in response to the comments of the ex-right back, but has now had time to think.

And the Portuguese were in fact in accordance. Speaking with Sky Sports, he revealed that he understood where Neville came from in terms of his criticism.

Amorim said: 'In this game they see the games and in our moment, with the season we do, we have to accept it and this is pretty honest.

'Sometimes at the end of the game you don't like it because you try to change things very hard and they talk about your players.

'But a day later you can understand. It's fair and I understand what he says. '

United is currently 13th in the Premier League table and picks up six wins in 20 games under Amorim in the top flight. They want to qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa League.

“I understand that Gary Neville is crucial about everything,” Amorim had said in the immediate aftermath of the derby. 'I understand that we have the worst season in history.

'Manchester City won everything in the past, but this season they are struggling. So we are not in the best moments to give fans the best spectacle. We don't fight for the big things, it's different.

'I understand the critical aspect of the players who played in a different way in this game because they fought for the titles every time. It is a different context. '
