Ruben Amorim reveals what Mbeumo must do for United after promising first start

Bryan Mbeumo appeared his first Manchester United performance against Everton in Atlanta and Ruben Amorim explained what his new attacker still has to do for the new season

Ruben Amorim believes that Bryan Mbeumo has made a promising start of life at Manchester United, but has admitted that the attacker is still at speed. The attacker made his first start for the club when the Red Devils won the Premier League Summer Series after a 2-2 draw with Everton in the United States.

Mbeumo, 25, played the opening 45 minutes from the collision in which Amorim's side placed a frustrating display. The newest signing of the club arrived in a £ 71 million deal from Brentford to participate in the team for their pre-season tour, but appeared on Sunday for the first time after he had previously participated in training.

The attacker played with Bruno Fernandes and Matheus Cunha against the Toffees in Atlanta and occupied positions all over the front three. Mbeumo also seems to have been given some responsibility when he took on some free kicks for his new team.

Cameroon International Mbeumo played a role in United's opening goal when he passed Amad for the first time, who then won a penalty that Fernandes converted. And he went close to opening his account after he quickly blocked two shots in succession.

But Amorim warned that Mbeumo still has to get up speed for the new season and explained that his new indictment would continue to learn his role in the side.

“He played well,” said Amorim. “He must understand the position, the movements, but [his] First touch, the way you connect to one touch, open[ing] Lots of space.

“You can see that he is not physically in perfect condition, but he makes a lot of runs and that can stretch a team.”

United is linked to more additions this summer, whereby the club reportedly states to sign Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig. The Red Devils are confronted with competition from Newcastle for the signature of the striker.

And the Premier League giants still want to discharge a number of stars, including Antony and Jadon Sancho. But Amorim has suggested that he would be happy with this team that goes into the season.

“Of course, one team can always improve with more players, but we have players to make that competition,” Amorim continued. “We have to improve as a team. We have the potential to improve with our players. I am really happy with the team.”
