Ruben Amorim suffers fresh Man Utd blow as January transfer budget revealed

Ruben Amorim has been dealt another major blow as the Manchester United boss runs out of money to play with in the January transfer window.

Amorim has been tasked with rebuilding United after Erik ten Hag was sacked in October, but the club's problems continue. They currently sit 14th in the Premier League, having collected just 22 points from 19 games, and are without a win in their last four matches.

Amorim has even admitted that relegation is a “possibility” given their poor form, and Manchester Evening News report that United will be unable to bring in reinforcements next month unless they can sell players first.

The report quotes a source as saying United “can't do anything” without a departure, having spent more than £200 million to sign Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Manuel Ugarte last summer.

When asked about the possibility of strengthening his squad in January following United's latest defeat to Newcastle, Amorim admitted: “We won't have that opportunity in January if we don't take into account [sell] some players.

“So you know the situation better than I do. So it's not like I come here and I can spend a lot of money on changing the whole team. You know the situation, so there's no point in talking about it.”

Marcus Rashford is one player who could leave in January after admitting he feels “ready for a new challenge”. He said: “For me personally, I think I am ready for a new challenge and the next steps.

“If I leave, there will be no hard feelings. You won't get any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That's me as a person. If I know a situation is already bad, I won't leave.” to make it worse.

“I've seen other players leave in the past and I don't want to be that person. If I leave, I will make a statement and it will be mine.” If Rashford is sold, United could use that money to bring in a replacement, but it remains to be seen how much concrete interest there will be in his services.
