Ruben Amorim has passed a scorching time that is responsible for Manchester United since he was appointed in November and could quickly get under pressure without improvement
Manchester United -boss Ruben Amorim has been warned that he could soon be under pressure at Old Trafford if he will not start well next season. The Portuguese head coach saw the Red Devils end 15th last season after his first months who were in charge.
Amorim arrived in November to replace Erik ten Hag, just a few months after the Dutch coach had signed a new deal with the club. And during the contract until 2027, the former sporting boss will find that there will be a lot of control not to improve the form of United during his time at the club so far.
The 40-year-old led United to the final of the Europa League, but could not prevent them from missing the European qualification because his team had trouble putting together a series of victories. But this summer, Amorim will offer the first chance to spend the previous season with his team to implement his methods.
The expenditure of United has already proved important with the addition of Matheus Cunha van Wolves. The club could still land Bryan Mbeumo and another striker on the transfer market.
And former United coach Rene Meulensteen thinks that Amorim should hit the ground in 2024/25. If not, the Dutch coach believes that his position can be endangered before the end of the year.
“If things go on to the next season and go to Christmas, Ruben Amorim's task will be at stake,” Meulensteen immediately said with drawal bining sites. “The club hierarchy will have no choice but to discuss whether he is the right man who continues how bad last season went – that's why a good start to the season is a must.”
Meulensteen suggests that Amorim's rigid style could still stop the team, even with the activity of the club in the transfer market. The current players who are linked do not repair all the problems of United in the spirit of the former assistant of Alex Ferguson.
“If you manage Manchester United, the goal should always be to win the title, but if Ruben Amorim said that now, people would think he's angry,” he added.
“If United goes for Christmas somehow with just one or two draws and defeats, people may think that the club is back, but I can't see it happening because Amorim is stuck in his system and they are extremely vulnerable.
“I think that if United starts the season with Andre Onana and Harry Maguire in the defense, there will still be many question marks in the unit and other teams will use it.
“You can reinforce with Viktor Gyokeres, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo next to Bruno Fernandes, but the midfield and the defense will still be flooded.
“The minimum must be to return to the Champions League, but Amorim must be careful because having an adjustable system is not smart to do. You have to be flexible and you can adjust when needed.”
