Ruben Amorim wants to be Man Utd boss for 20 YEARS as he makes title promise

Ruben Amorim will take the lead on his first complete Manchester United season during the upcoming campaign and the Portuguese coach already has a number of big plans for his stint with the Red Devils

Ruben Amorim has sworn to make Manchester United Premier League champions again and wants to stay in the club for 20 years. Amorim took over it halfway through last season and when United ended the campaign in disorder in 15th place – their lowest Premier League finish.

But the 40-year-old Portuguese head coach started changing the culture of the team and is convinced that he can bring United back to the top.

Amorim has left for his contract for two years, with the option of an extra year, but said that he wants to manage United Long-Term as Sir Alex Ferguson, who has taken the lead to Old Trafford for 26 years.

“I want to stay,” said Amorim. “I want to stay 20 [years]. That is my goal and I really believe in that. Something will happen. It always does.

“I will be lucky in some times. I was very lucky during my career as a manager and my idea is to stay for many years. But again, we know the results will dictate. I know that I already used up the credit that I had last season, but I am ready to start again.

“At Sporting it was the same. They said I was gone in three months. They said I had a three percent chance of winning the title with Sporting.

“I know that the pressure is different. But I don't like to change clubs. I like to stay with people and continue. So I was there for five years and in the last few years I was waiting at the right club. I know it sounds crazy, but I chose this club, I had the feeling and I just want to make a bond and I will stay here.”

Asked why he was so sure that he could make United great again, Amorim said: “I have no doubt, because there are some things you can't buy and that this club has. The pedigree, the history, the fans. We have that.

“I think that's clear. Then the money. We have money. We have money without the Champions League. So we have money and we have more money in the future. We do everything.

'You talk to Omar [Berrada, chief executive] And all these guys, they make all the strategy to have more money in the future. So that will not be a problem.

“Then I think it is clearly the culture. If we have a different culture, with all that, with all the pedigree, the money, all these things, we can return to our place – that is clear.”
