Ruben Amorim’s stance on Bruno Fernandes exit as Real Madrid hatch transfer plan

Real Madrid is interested in signing Manchester United Captain Bruno Fernandes this summer, but Red Devil's Boss Ruben Amorim is desperate to keep the Portugal International

Manchester United -Baas Ruben Amorim wants Captain Bruno Fernandes to remain in Old Trafford, despite the fact that Real Madrid reportedly views a movement for the midfielder. Fernandes is an important player for United since he came to the club from Sporting Lisbon in 2020.

Fernandes has delivered 177 target contributions in 277 performances in all competitions for the Red Devils, including 12 goals and nine assists in 27 games under Amorim. However, the Daily Star reports that Real Madrid is interested in the 30-year-old.

The report states that they have sent scouts to 'almost every united competition recently' to view Fernandes in action, whereby the Portugal International was considered a potential successor to Luka Modric.

It is claimed that although Amorim wants to keep Fernandes, the finances of United means that they will 'consider a large selection'. “If we need it, he is always there,” Amorim said about Fernandes after he scored a hat trick when United hit Real Sociedad from the Europa League from the Europa League earlier this month.

“In the set pieces he can change position, he can bring the ball forward, he can score goals, he can make transitions, as he has shown today in the last 10 minutes of the game. He can defend, so it's a perfect leader for our team, and we have to help him win titles because he earns a lot.”

Co-owner of United Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently admitted that the club has a number of players who are “not good enough” and “too much paid”, but insisted that they “certainly need Bruno”. Ratcliffe said to the BBC: “If you look at the players we buy this summer, we didn't buy, we buy Antony, we buy Casemiro, we buy Onana, we buy Hojlund, we buy Sancho.

“These are all things from the past, whether we like it or not, we have inherited those things and have to figure it out. For Sancho, who now plays for Chelsea and we pay half of his wages, we pay £ 17 million to buy it in the summer.

“Some are not good enough and some have probably been paid too much. But for us to form the team for which we are fully responsible and responsible, will take time. We have this period of transformation where we will go from the past to the future.

“There are some great players in the team as we know, the captain is a fantastic football player. We definitely need Bruno, he is a fantastic football player.”

Fernandes signed a new contract in August and revealed that he had the opportunity to leave Old Trafford, but eventually an extension agreed when the club “showed that it needed me”.

“The club was aware that there was a possibility to leave, I had concrete offers,” he revealed. “But the club showed that it needed me, that it was in a time of change and that they wanted to do things differently.

“I believe there is a dream future in this club with the changes that take place. That is why I chose to stay for it.
