Liverpool -midfielder Ryan Gravenberch is “Hunger for More” after claiming Premier League title this season with the Reds and has Champions League dream dream
Ryan Gravenberch strives for a medal from the Champions League winners to add to his growing collection.
The midfielder of Liverpool enjoyed the Reds this season that this season to the Premier League title. The Dutch midfielder has now won League titles in Holland with Ajax, Germany with Bayern Munich and England with the Merseysiders. Now he wants European glory, while he also has ambitions to win a big tournament with his country.
“There is so much that I still want to reach,” Gravenberch told Numero Nederland. “I was lucky to win competition titles in the Netherlands, Germany and England, but as a player you always hunt more.
“That hunger never leaves, and I feel that every day. I am only 23, so I know that there are many years ahead, and big moments are still coming. Winning the Champions League is a huge dream of mine, that is one that I have not checked yet.
“And of course, to achieve something special with the national team, a euro or even a world cup, that would mean everything. There is still a lot to strive for, and that is what keeps me going.”
Gravenberch, 23, came to Liverpool in the summer of 2023, but did not really sparkle in his first season in the club under Jurgen Klopp. But the last term under Arne Slot he flourished in a new No. 6 roll for the club and played a major role in their title-winning success.
“I was lucky to play for three historical clubs – Ajax, Bayern Munich and Liverpool – and to be honest, each is the biggest in the country,” said Gravenberch. “It has been a real privilege. These are clubs and cities where football runs deep. The fans live for it. They expect everything from you, and when you turn on that shirt, you feel the weight of it. It is something that I never naturally consider.
“To be honest, I think they are more on each other than realizing people. Big clubs demand a certain mentality, that winning mentality. There is a culture around them, built over the years, that all revolves around success. On the field, outside the field – it's just who they are.”
This season Liverpool won title no. 20 and it led to unreal celebration scenes on the red half of Merseyside on the day that the Reds Tottenham defeated to conquer the title for the Dutch midfielder.
He added: “To be honest, it was something very special, a season that I will never forget. The scenes in the bus when we approached Anfield for the Spurs match, that afternoon we won the competition, will stay with me forever.
“The passion on the faces of the fans, the Red Flares, the sound, the songs, just seeing what it meant for them, it gave me goosebumps. That image will never leave me. The parties with the boys after that, that moment it really touched us was incredible. Liverpool's second Premier League title.
“From my point of view, as a small child, you dream of these moments, so to achieve this is really special. I am proud to have played a role in what was an unforgettable season. And now we are already looking forward to the next season. We are hungry at more.”
