Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham linked with EPL star Moyes was ‘disappointed’ to lose

Wrexham is connected to another signing of the big name, while Phil Parkinson seems to be improving to improve his team before competing in the championship next season

Wrexham is connected to a Premier League star who was disappointed David Moyes to lose during his time at West Ham. The red dragons are reportedly interested in signing Wolves Center-back Craig Dawson, whose contract ends at the end of June.

The defender previously held conversations with Wolves to end his contract in February. It followed the decision of Boss Vorror Pereira to let him out of his 25-man Premier League team and preliminary discussions with Leicester about a potential SWAP deal for Conor Coady.

No agreement was reached at the time and Wrexham is now reportedly to bring Dawson to the Racecourse Ground after recently security of the championship. The outfit of North Wales, owned by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mcelhenney, have, according to the Sun, the Sun.

The 35-year-old arrived in January 2023 at Wolves from West Ham for £ 3.3 million. The then Dawson manager of Dawson was reluctant to let him go after he had played an important part in the revival of the hammers under the shot.

But a deal was agreed to enable him to be closer to home, with his family located in the northwest of England. Moyes later showed that there were no hard feelings by publishing a sincere message to Dawson prior to a collision between Wolves and West Ham in December 2023.

“We look forward to seeing Craig Dawson again,” said Moyes. “He played a major role to get us from where we started to be where we are now. He was a large part of it.

“We were disappointed when he left, but we knew that there were other reasons behind it. He is a good boy and I am sure he is a big help for wolves at the moment.”

Dawson has enjoyed a remarkable rise since he started working as a glass collector in his local pub in Rochdale at the age of 16. He started his football career at the Non-League Club Radcliffe Borough in 2007, before moving to Rochdale two years later.

It was there that he caught the attention of West Brom, with whom he became a member in 2010 and made his Premier League debut the following year. Dawson made more than 200 performances during his time at the Baggies, before switching to Watford in 2019 and then arrived at West Ham the following year for a first loan saying.

Dawson has been praised for his strong working ethics by various of his former colleagues, including ex-West Brom teammate Liam Ridgell.

Ridgeewell spoke with athletics in February 2021: “If I had to compare him to another player in how he behaves, it would be James Milner. Just quiet, dedicated and focused on the final goal. I played with Milner at Aston Villa.

“Such players came through, they did not care about the attention or the spotlight, and that was Dawson. You have players like he needed in the dressing room and I see a real solidarity in that West Ham team.”

Wrexham -Baas Phil Parkinson is known for players with a good character, which could explain his reported interest in Dawson. The former manager of Bolton and Sunderland said that he would implement a strict policy “not superstars, no egos” at the club after their third consecutive promotion.

In April he said: “I think that many difficult decisions will be made this summer, in terms of whom we bring and how we add to this fantastic team of guys we have, but let's see if we can build a team to compete at that level.

“What we have always tried to do is ensure that the culture in the club is right and I think that is the key – not superstars, no egos in the dressing room and we have to try to get that balance good again. You always need extra quality if you go up a level to ensure that the right people come in the building.”
