Sacchi: With Conceicao, AC Milan are now alive

Conceicao guided Milan to a come-from-behind 3-2 Supercoppa Italiana final victory against Inter Milan in Riyadh.

Sacchi told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “It's a great advertisement for Italian football, Milan is alive, they showed that in the semi-final against Juve and then against Inter. Conceicao is a great coach, Inter need to control the game better given the qualities they have when they take a 2-0 lead.

“(Rafael) Leao's entry, he did impressive things, he split the match. To be honest, seeing him in these circumstances makes me even angrier. He has incredible qualities, both physically and technically, and yet he does not always manage to express them. I hope he has the consistency of performance needed to reach very high levels. Will he make it? That requires the magic ball, I'm having trouble answering. I think he needs to be constantly stimulated, both in training and in matches.”

When asked if he was disappointed by Inter, Sacchi also replied: “Honestly, yes. At 2-0, a strong and experienced team like the Nerazzurri must keep control of the game and hide the ball from the opponent. That may not have worked because they suffered too much from Milan's strong reaction.

“And tactically, Inter couldn't find a way to contain Leao: they could have come up with a double marker, a midfielder who could help the backline. I saw a team that was too passive.”
