Mohamed Salah was quick to respond to the latest question about his continued contractual uncertainty after scoring in Liverpool's 3-1 win over Leicester City.
The 32-year-old scored his 16th goal of the season to seal victory for Arne Slot's side, who moved seven points clear at the top of the Premier League following their defeat to Chelsea earlier in the day.
Salah is one of three Liverpool stars, along with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, with contracts expiring at the end of the season who will be free to talk to foreign clubs from January 1.
The Egyptian, who sent the Reds fanbase into a frenzy last month when he claimed he had not been contacted about a new deal, refused to reveal the current state of negotiations when asked on Boxing Day .
Instead, he offered season's greetings and looked ahead to the next time he gets the chance to play in front of supporters at Anfield – a New Year's Day showdown against Manchester United.
'I want to tell you [the fans] Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,” Salah told Amazon Prime. “And I'll see them here in the next game.”
Any fan hoping for clarity from the forward was also disappointed by comments from his manager, who has answered every contract question with a straight bat since his arrival in the summer.
“We don't talk about contracts in public,” said Arne Slot after leading the Reds to their 13th Premier League win in 17 games.
'This is something for the players and [sporting director] Richard Hughes and it is not my place to talk about these situations publicly.
'But it's clear that Mo [Salah] Another good game played, Van Dijk played a really good game, Trent was very good for the most part with a few exceptions but especially the second half was really good. We can talk about that, not about the contracts.'
The Dutchman's icy response belied his generally upbeat mood after watching his side take a commanding lead in the title race.
The Reds recovered from an early scare against the Foxes, taking the lead after just six minutes, with goals from Cody Gakpo, Curtis Jones and Salah.
Liverpool's victory extended their lead over Chelsea at the top and widened the gap with defending champions Manchester City to a fourteen-point gap. Slot's men have also played one game less than their rivals.
Arsenal have the chance to close the gap to six points when they welcome Ipswich to the Emirates on Friday evening.
