Salah headlines Premier League Player of the Season shortlist

Mohamed Salah is one of the three Liverpool players who are nominated for the Player of the Season Award from the Premier League, after firing the side of Arne Slot on the title.

Salah only needs one target involvement at Liverpool's last two games of the campaign to match the record of one season for combined goals and assists (47), shared by Andrew Cole (1993-94) and Alan Shearer (1994-95).

Salah broke the record for a 38-game campaign on April 13, and he leads the Premier League hit for both goals (28) and Assists (18) this period.

There have only been four examples of a player who stood the charts above goals and assists in the same campaign in the competition in 1993-94, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaina in 1998-99, Harry Kane in 2020-21 and Salah itself in 2021-22.

Salah is accompanied by the eight-man Shortlist by teammates Ryan Gravenberch and Virgil van Dijk, with Liverpool who wins the title with four more games for three teams have done this earlier (Liverpool in 2019-20, Manchester City in 2017-18 and Manchester United in 2000-01).

Nottingham Forest, who still has an external chance to qualify for the Champions League, have two nominees in Chris Wood and Morgan Gibbs-White.

Wood has 20 Premier League goals this period and is only the second player who achieved 20 goals for Forest in a campaign in the competition after Stan Collymore (22-1994-95).

Gibbs-White has now contributed six goals and eight assists for the Nuno Espirito Santo team, who are seventh in the table and guaranteed European qualification.

The teammate of the playmaker of the playmaker Declan Rice is also nominated, despite the failure of Arsenal to insist the title, which have created more opportunities (56) and more expected assists (5.5 XA) this campaign than he has in another top season.

Alexander Isak from Newcastle United is also on the shortlist and has scored 23 goals, the second only for Salah, with Bryan Mbeumo van Brentford, the last nominee, who scored 18 times.

The eight nominees for the Young Player of the Season Award were also announced on Thursday, with Gravenberch the only player nominated for both.

Bournemouth -defender Dean Huijsen is in the race, because reports suggest that Real Madrid will conquer a £ 50 million deal to sign the Spaniard prior to the club's world cup that starts next month.

Huijsen has an average of 4.1 progressive steps per 90 minutes in the Premier League, the except for two centerbacks to play for at least 1500 minutes.

Chelsea's Cole Palmer was able to keep the trophy after landing in 2023-24, although his form was completed since the turn of the year, where only six targeted involvement was recorded in his last 20 games (four goals, two assists).

Forest wing player Anthony Elanga, Arsenal Center-Back William Saliba, Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa and Joao Pedro from Brighton are also on the shortlist, as Liam Delap is.

Ipswich Town Frontman Delap is the first player to be nominated for the young player of the season while playing for a relegated team, and he is said to be interested in Manchester United and Chelsea with a £ 30 million release clause now active.
