Salah is set to sign new Liverpool contract and Van Dijk expected to follow suit

Mohamed Salah is poet than ever to expand his Liverpool contract and to put an end to a long-term Saga about his future.

Mail Sport understands that the Egyptian is now approaching when signing a new deal at the Anfield Club.

Virgil van Dijk will probably follow the example after dropping an important hint about his future twice in the past week. The captain said that 'progress' was made in Craven Cottage and told a children's question and answer event with Cadbury's that a resolution will be found soon.

It is understanding that the Dutch defender also goes in the right direction with his Saga, and is on course to also put pen on paper about a new deal – although nothing has been signed or officially on one of the two count.

Salah has attracted massive interest from Saudi Arabia over the past two years. Altihad saw that a £ 150 million offer in August 2023, which was quickly rejected by Liverpool.

The Saudis have retained an interest in Salah and investigated whether they could convince him to join them this summer, when his Liverpool contract will lapse. The 32-year-old has long been the 'dream goal' of the Saudi Pro League.

Clubs in the region also circling about potentially a summer movement for Reds Vooruit Darwin Nunez, while Luis Diaz also attracts interest from all over the world.

The Saudis approached Liverpool in January to sign Nunez, but the club was not willing to sell their striker halfway through their Premier League title Tite.

Salah himself has publicly discussed his contractsaga several times and said in November that he was 'more out' and Sky Sports told that this was his last season in the club.

Many observers considered this a tactic from Salah to put pressure on the hierarchy of Liverpool, led by Fenway Sports Group (FSG) Chief Michael Edwards and new sports director Richard Hughes, to extend his deal.

A contract offer has been on the table for a while, but Salah and his representative, Ramy Abbas, wanted a better deal. FSG has a long -term policy not to expand any deal for players in the thirty, but fans have called on the owners to find an exception here.

It is understanding that Salah will miss the international camp of Egypt in June to let his body rest completely after a long season for Liverpool, which further points to his desire to stay.

His decision to skip the Olympic Games of last summer is cited by sources as a reason for his great season in which he scored 32 goals and scored 22 assists.

No details are known about the potential new deal of Salah, but sources suggest that an extension of two years seems the most likely.

Regarding Van Dijk, who will be 34 in July, it also feels like he is about to commit his future to the club. He said earlier this week that progress had been made.

His contract has long been considered the least difficult to solve, despite the interest of other clubs around the world.

The defensive partner of Van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, is another who rises uncertainty about his future – although his deal runs until the end of next season. Real Madrid is one of those who keep an eye on his situation remotely.

Liverpool has opened conversations with the French International, but an agreement is not yet seen close by. Although the future of Van Dijk, Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold are currently the priority, Konate's contract will probably be thrown into the spotlight next season.

Real Madrid ends a step to sign Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer this summer. Nothing has been signed yet than if

Reported in December, the 15-time Champions of Europe are convinced that he will soon be their husbands.

The right back is on the way to be fit in the coming month due to an ankle injury.

In the meantime, the legendary former boss Jurgen Klopp will return to Merseyside next month for a charity gala for the Liverpool foundation. He will be at the ball on Friday 23 May in the Liverpool cathedral.

That falls two days before the day that the Reds will probably lift the Premier League trophy at home at Crystal Palace, but there is no indications anyway whether he will be present in Anfield. Boss Arne Slot would welcome him in a game with open arms.
