Bayern Munich's two-target hero Leroy Sane insisted on his teammates to stay focused after he had been removed by Low St. Pauli to relocate six points clearly at the Bundesliga summit.
Sane scored a second half of the Allianz Arena after Harry Kane saw his 17th minute more open canceled by Elias Saad before Lars Ritzka scored for St. Pauli.
Vincent Kompany's side was forced to play the last few minutes with a man less after Hiroki Ito had sustained an injury after they had made all their replacements.
Although Bayern dominated the competition statistics and gathered an expected goals (XG) a total of 3.53 of their 19 shots, Sane acknowledged that his team had to improve in the future.
“It was a bit tight by the end because we were reduced to ten men. Everything taken, it was a very good representation after an international break,” Sane said.
“We are all happy that we have taken the three points at home. We have to give it 100 percent in every match and win our games.
“I think it helps with our rhythm. We know that we must be focused and do not have to waste points.”
Bayern is again in action against Augsburg this Friday before he records interview in the first stage of their Champions League quarterfinals collision in Munich.
In the meantime, Kompany was satisfied with the display on his part, although he admitted that Bayern allowed their opponents to make things a bit uncomfortable in the first half.
Jackson Irvine had the Dwarsbalk Rammeld just before Kane opened the score, with Eric Smith and Danel Sinani also near the opening fairs.
“St. Pauli is well organized all season. They give few goals and allow few opportunities,” Kompany added.
“We allowed them a lot in the first half, but in particular in the second half we created good opportunities.
“Everything taken, I am satisfied with the result and our performance. But the injury of Hiroki Ito of course dampens the result.”
Bayern has now won nine of their last 10 competitive games against St. Pauli and only loses them during this period in February 2002.
